How I Got To Where I Am....

I went through three years of college not knowing what I wanted to pursue as a career. I majored in English because I love to write and minored in History because I find it fascinating. During the fall semester of my senior year I was taking a Journalism course that included thirty hours of community service as a requirement. I volunteered with the Campfire USA after school program in the Great Brook Valley neighborhood of Worcester where I worked with under-priviledged children ages 5-13. I loved my time working with the children and decided that I had found my calling. However, fall semester of senior year is a little late to be changing majors. Upon graduating from Assumption, I enrolled in the Post-Baccalaureate Teaching Licensure Program at Framingham State. I worked at the Boys and Girls Club of Metrowest before getting a job as a Special Education Teaching Assistant in Ashland last January. I worked at Pittaway School in Ashland up until this past August, when I was hired at Hopkins School. I am looking forward to completing my education courses and becoming an elementary school teacher.

Where I'd Like To Go....

Once I have obtained my intial elementary licensure, I will pursue my Master of Eeducation Degree at Framingham State with a concentration in either English Language Learners, Special Education, or Literacy and Language. Ultimately I would like to work towards a Doctorate Degree as well. I would love to teach undergraduate courses one day in either writing or history.

Personally I have a number of goals I would like to acheive in my lifetime. I would like to write and publish a book, however I have yet to decide what that book will be about. I like to see new things and would like to travel more. Italy and England are at the top of my list of places I would like to visit but I would love to take a tour of Europe. I also would not mind making a stop in Hawaii. My biggest goal for my personal life is to eventually get married and have a family. I come from a very close family and put a lot of value in the upbringing my parents gave me and would like to provide that for children of my own someday.

More About Me....

I love sports and played basketball and softball when I was younger. I coached a 7th and 8th grade girls basketball team during the winter of 2005-2006 and had a good time doing it. I love the Red Sox but would count my favorite sport to watch as hockey. I also like to golf and am gradually getting better at it. I enjoy rollerblading as well.

My birthday is April 7, 1983, which makes me an Aries. Aries people are typically creative, compassionate and ambitious. I love music and my favorite bands are Counting Crows and Dave Matthews Band. I recently saw Dave Matthews Band at Fenway Park which was definitely the best concert I have ever seen. My favorite movie of all-time is A Christmas Story but I only watch it on Christmas Eve when it's on TBS for 24-hours straight. I love Italian food, especially if my grandmother is cooking.
